English National Opera’s The Marriage of Figaro at London’s Coliseum

What a joy it was to be back at London’s Coliseum theatre to photograph the English National Opera presenting The Marriage of Figaro, the famous comedy opera by Mozart.

I’ve been feeling very much at home at the beautiful Coliseum having now photographed several operas this season (and I look forward to more next season!). It was wonderful to see the incredible performances from David Ireland singing the title role, Mary Bevan as his fiancée Susanna, and Cody Quattlebaum as Count Almaviva along with the entire cast, under the direction of Joe Hill-Gibbons. A fabulous shoot for a theatre photographer!

The English National Opera make it very easy for a relative newbie to opera like me as the works are translated into English with surtitles helpfully positioned above the stage. So if you happen to be in the West End I really do recommend checking out an opera at the Coliseum.
