Photography Workshops and Individual Tuition
I run workshops and 1 to 1 tuition for absolute beginners who are ready to move away from auto, with a focus on creative composition as well as the technical side of using a DSLR camera.
More specialised workshops are also available for Intermediate and Advanced photographers, including Dance, Street and Architectural photography.
Check out the blog post about one of my Dance Photography workshops.
The workshops take place in Central London (current locations include the Southbank and London Bridge), North London (including Hampstead, Camden and Primrose Hill) and St Albans in Hertfordshire.
You can book onto many of my workshops via my Meetup group Photography Central.
Individual photography tuition and tailor-made groups are available upon request. For example, if you are a beginner or improver with a particular interest in photographing music, food, sports, animals etc. I can adapt the tuition to meet your individual needs.

Testimonials
“This workshop was a brilliant introduction to learning about the basics of taking a great photo, without the need to know all the complicated functions of your camera. You get to learn and understand the basics of photo composition, and be inspired to look at your surroundings in a different way to take that shot you might not have considered before. Louise was incredibly knowledgeable, explained everything with great examples and helped you get the best out of the photos you take. I would highly recommend this lesson to any beginner – it was great fun & I am already looking forward to taking my camera out and continue to practise what Louise taught me in the lesson” – Amelia, How to Compose workshop
“Tremendously inspiring….I need to learn so much more! Thank you Louise for a great afternoon” – Linda, St Albans Special beginners workshop
“I had a great time with Louise and learnt lots about photography. It was a really useful session and introduction to the skill. Louise explained different styles of photography and gave lots of helpful tips and hints. Her advice on how to compose a picture and spacing of objects was particularly useful. I had fun exploring Camden Market with her and identifying interesting and unusual features to photograph. A good way to spend a Saturday morning! I’d thoroughly recommend a session with her. Thank you Louise” – Sophie, 14 years old, photography tuition
“Super session again – many thanks to Louise for organising a great day, and the weather! Always a pleasure to meet old friends and make new ones” – Pete, Dancing in the Street – Dance photography workshop
“Being the lone attendee meant that I had extra one to one tuition from Louise, who put me at ease with her warmth and generously shared her knowledge and experience. Underpinned by providing visual examples of well-known great photographers, such as Cartier-Bresson, Maier, Salgado, and a potted history of photography, she taught me the key rules of composition by getting me to use them in short practice sessions around the colourful and varied landscape of the Southbank Centre. This practice made me aware, for the first time, of what I need to be conscious of when trying to capture an inspired yet visually effective and intentional (rather than ad hoc) shot. This stretched my mind and boosted my confidence in taking shots within different locations and among crowds, who I realised were too self-involved to notice I was photographing them. Now I have these visual skills, I am inspired to attend Louise’s workshop on how to use my camera’s settings, knowing no question will be too silly!” – Liza, How to Compose individual tuition
“This meet up was an excellent day! A relaxed comfortable environment full of like minded people who all are interested in the same things! Excellent feedback and tutorials from a laid back teacher made the whole day very very good would definitely do it again!” – Marc, St Albans Special beginners workshop
“Fantastic event and the enjoyment of the dancers really shone out in the photos. Thanks again Louise” – Stephen, When We Dance – Dance photography workshop
“Absolutely brilliant workshop. I learnt so much. It was the right pace. Thank you so much. I will definitely attend another workshop” – Carla, Need for Speed – Shutter Speed workshop
“Great exhibition with wonderful company. Louise picks real goodies” – Beverly, Visit to Wim Wenders Photography Exhibition at The Photographers Gallery
“Louise is a great teacher and made it an interesting and fun session. Looking forward to the next one!” – Laura, How to Compose workshop
“It was a great relief to have my camera de-mystified and for Louise’s patient and simply explained session to inform me of the three vital types of camera setting, which are required in order to take a good photo. Practical sessions, which also re-capped on composition and combined this with this session’s technical learning, helped me to remember what Louise demonstrated to us. I left the session feeling exhilarated to feel my camera was now an understood friend, which I can enjoy using. I am looking forward to practising my new-found technical knowledge of it” – Liza, The Fundamentals of the DSLR workshop
